Physiotherapy

At Complete Physio Scotland our physiotherapists are chartered and state registered and treatments are on a one-to-one basis. Once an accurate diagnosis of a musculoskeletal pain and disorder has been determined our physiotherapists will commence a predominantly hands-on treatment approach. We regard physiotherapy as a way of relieving a patients pain in order to optimise function and enhance performance

Physiotherapy treatments may include joint mobilisation and manipulation, massage, exercise prescription and advice, acupuncture, electrotherapy, taping, postural advice and core strengthening (pilates).

Common conditions treated include back, neck and joint pain, whiplash injuries, headaches, sports and running injuries, repetitive strain injuries, postural imbalances and pre and post surgical rehabilitation.

Complete Physio Scotland is registered with several major health insurance companies. Read more about the conditions we treat.

For best results massage is applied directly onto the skin. For this it’s best to wear “big” underwear, or stretchy shorts. Ladies please wear a normal bra, not a sports bra as these are easier to undo and adjust if required. Massage can be performed through clothes if needed.

Injection Therapy

Injection therapy is the use of medicines, and other selected products, by physiotherapists, which are administered by injection to intra- and extra-articular tissues and joint spaces. Common conditions that may benefit from injection therapy are inflammatory pathologies such as arthritis, tendonitis and bursitis.

Dave Kershaw has extensive experience of administering steroid injections with excellent results most commonly for shoulder and hip pain. We will liaise closely with your GP who will be able to prescribe the specific medication prior to your appointment.

Following an injection, we recommend only light use of the area for 48 hours – a full post injection protocol will be issued to you at the time of the injection.

Massage Therapy

This service is not currently available but will be in the near future

Massage treats the soft tissues, including muscles, fascia and tendons, to help speed recovery, relieve pain and improve posture and movement. A range of techniques from traditional massage, to working on trigger points and more movement based therapies are used in the sessions.

Sports and Remedial Massage has many benefits for those who are involved in sport at any level. From helping to reduce swelling, to event preparation and assisting recovery massage is a great way to improve your sporting performance.

It’s not all about sport though. Massage therapists work with people from all walks of life with pain or dysfunction caused by any aspect of life. For example back pain, poor posture and headaches can all be caused by too much time spend sitting and massage can help address these issues.

Let’s also not forget that by working with you to relax your muscles massage can have a very calming and de-stressing effect. It helps your mind get into balance with your body.

What is a massage session like?

The Massage Therapist will start with taking some history, then assessing your posture, how you move or some of your muscles and joints.

The treatment involves a range of techniques, some where you are still, others where you have to move. Treatment can take place sitting, standing, or lying on your front, back or side.

You will be given advice on self-care, and possibly also exercises to do at the end of your session.

For best results massage is applied directly onto the skin. For this it’s best to wear “big” underwear, or stretchy shorts. Ladies please wear a normal bra, not a sports bra as these are easier to undo and adjust if required. Massage can be performed through clothes if needed.
